Somewhere between your wants and your needs is a happy middle ground that’ll serve as your dream home. Work with your significant other or anyone else who might live in that home with you to make sure it works with everyone’s vision of what the home should be. The bring your builder in on the plan and work out the logistics to ensure that your dream home is possible with your budget.
- Match It to A Design
The interior design of your future home can wait until there’s a space to decorate. What you should focus on once you know what needs and wants your house is going to meet is how it’s going to look while doing that. Does your heart swoon over ranch houses or cape cod exteriors? Do you know the difference?
Take a minute to do some research into different exterior designs for homes. Keep a few pictures of your favorites, then show your builder. They already probably have a good idea of what style of home will match what you’re looking for, but if you find your heart set on a specific style, they can work with you to make that dream come true.
Finding the right design for your home is going to take more effort than simply looking up a few pictures or pinning what looks nice. The design of a home has to serve your needs for years to come, while looking great from the outside. It all depends on what you have going on in your life and what your design preferences are.
