Cocktail Corner Greyhound

This week’s cocktail is a simple yet delightful mixture of grapefruit juice and vodka known as the Greyhound. History is a bit fuzzy as to the origins of this drink, which in the 1930s was made with gin, but most agree that it was invented by an American bartender at the Savoy Hotel in London. Here’s what you need to know: it’s tart and sweet, deliciously refreshing, and sophisticated. I generally enjoy mine in the evening, but I think anything containing grapefruit juice is an acceptable brunch drink. Order yours with a high quality vodka to ensure smooth sipping.

The Greyhound

  • 2 oz. vodka
  • 5 oz. grapefruit juice

You can also add a splash of grenadine for a pretty pink color. Cheers!
