Feeling especially peeved this week? I don’t mean just because of the elections. The second week of October is National Pet Peeves Week. And, while I’m not sure we needed a whole week to celebrate the things that bother us the most, it’s here! So in honor of the occasion, we’ve asked our staff, writers and contributors at Sweatpants & Coffee to share their biggest pet peeves! Share yours with us in the comments below.

“Ignorance — where people refuse to learn, or rely on just the internet for information (hello, political knuckleheads on both sides, birthers, creationists, anti-vaxxers, The Food Babe…)” – Julia Park Tracey

“People who use “loose” for “lose” and “breath” for “breathe.” Also when the soaking wet, dirty sponge is left in the sink. And people who leave their dishes with food on them all over the house. Also…well, there are more, but I’ve probably said enough. I’m salty today.” – Barbara Doyle

“BAD SMELLS. I have a really strong sense of smell, so if there’s ever an unidentified smell in my house, you’ll just find me wandering around sticking my face near things like the fridge and the trash can to try and identify it. I honestly get intense feelings of anger when I can’t identify a bad smell (and remedy it!)” – Rachel Drummond

vaguebooking

“Not replacing the toilet paper roll, talking during my football game like it is a social hour, people who let their dogs poop in my yard and don’t pick it up (I literally leave a trash can by the curb, yet STILL, DOG POOP WHILE I AM MOWING THE LAWN!)” – Salongo Wendland

“Mansplaining. Oh HELL no.” – Leslie Mahady

“Unnecessary rudeness. Working in customer service isn’t the easiest thing in the world, and when people come in acting like a giant asshole for no reason, it makes my job twice as hard. It also makes me very stabby.” – Tennille Bradshaw

honesty

“Being interrupted: I will mentally crush a fool for interrupting me. This includes my daughters and they know it. I’m the little known Gorgon brother. Flip side, and only slightly less peevy, is people who wait for me to finish talking but aren’t listening to what I’m saying. They are simply waiting for their turn to talk again.” – Greg Joseph

“Being ignored. The empty toilet paper roll. Dishes on the counter instead of the sink/dishwasher. Loud cars idling. Oh! When someone takes the trash out but doesn’t replace the bag, so that next time I go to throw something away, I throw it directly into the bare trash can, and then have to wash it.” – Shandle Blaha

“People jumping out & making a left turn in front of me, right when the light turns green. It has to be a NYC thing. It has never happened anywhere else I’ve lived. Happens ~50% here.” – Leslie Mahady
