Spotlight Review | Apoterra Skincare

By Jessica Hancock

This tote is going to spoil all of our bath and body lovers out there because the next up in June’s Spotlight Series is Apoterra Skincare. I had a chance to tryout a couple of their favorite products for you and you are going to love them.

Apoterra means “derived from the earth”. It’s an apothecary founded by Dominique Caron that is located in New York City and specializes in creating skincare products that target adult skincare issues. She started creating products after realizing how difficult it was to find affordable, natural skincare. Using only the highest quality plant and mineral ingredients to combat things like adult acne, dry skin, and premature aging. You can even find a customizable system based on your skincare needs. They use a numbered batch system that allows you to see what is in each of the products and where each ingredient derives from. Every product they have is stamped with that identifying number for easy searching.

When we create our products, we consider the entire cycle, from ingredient sourcing to where the used bottles of our products end up.  Our dream is to source all ingredients directly from small organic farms and use packaging that has no negative impact on our planet.  We currently work with some small farms and distilleries, and source organic and fair trade when we can. We package our products in non-toxic, easily recyclable glass, and use biodegradable materials when we can.”

Tulsi Rejuvinating Oil $28: The oil is made with a combination of several natural oils but the Tulsi, Lavender, and Evening Primrose really shine. saponified oils Olea europaea (olive) oil*, Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil*, Elaeis guineensis (sustainable palm) oil*, and Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter*, Coffea Arabica (coffee)*, milk*, Coffea Arabica (coffee) oil, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) oil*, essential oil blend* *certified organic I’ve never tried a body oil before because I kinda have naturally oily skin, so I was worried that I’d be extra shiny and my skin would get all irritated. But now I’m obsessed with it. It leaves my skin smooth and moisturized without the oily feeling. It’s fast absorbing and the scent is just unbelievable. I’ve been using it daily for almost a month and still have over half a bottle left.

Coffee + Cream Exfoliating Soap $12: This soap is made with saponified oils Olea europaea (olive) oil*, Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil*, Elaeis guineensis (sustainable palm) oil*, and Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter*, Coffea Arabica (coffee)*, milk*, Coffea Arabica (coffee) oil, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) oil*, essential oil blend* *certified organic saponified oils Olea europaea (olive) oil*, Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil*, Elaeis guineensis (sustainable palm) oil*, and Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter*, Coffea Arabica (coffee)*, milk*, Coffea Arabica (coffee) oil, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) oil*, essential oil blend* *certified organic saponified oils Olea europaea (olive) oil*, Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil*, Elaeis guineensis (sustainable palm) oil*, and Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter*, Coffea Arabica (coffee)*, milk*, Coffea Arabica (coffee) oil, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) oil*, essential oil blend* *certified organica combination of natural oils, organic coffee grounds, and organic spices. You can smell it right out of the package, this rich, spicy aroma or cinnamon and coffee. It has really gentle exfoliation while still moisturizing your skin. Every time I use it I love the subtle creamy scent that it leaves behind. I use it a couple times a week to make sure I don’t irritate my skin.

And here are a couple other things I’m crushing pretty hard on:

Hibiscus Exfoliating Mud with Rosehip + Acai $24

Herbal Balancing Serum with Immortelle + Green Tea $35
