Spotlight Review | Poppy & Dot

By Jessica Hancock

Every time the seasons change, I find something to love. Whether it’s bringing out the flip-flops or bringing out the boots, I’m looking forward to it. This also means bringing out the new wardrobe and that makes me pretty excited. In this month’s #TreatYoSelfTote, we got to include a really cute dress from the online boutique Poppy & Dot.

Started by real-life BFF’s Tara Thueson and Layla Overman, or “Tayla” as they jokingly call themselves, Poppy & Dot is a combination of vintage style and design with really affordable prices. The friends wanted to start a clothing line that made women feel empowered and confident about themselves without breaking the bank. They carry sizes Small to 2XL and choose fabrics that are stretchy and flattering to all shapes and sizes. The styles and patterns they choose are fun but timeless, the kinds of things you don’t have to rotate out of your closet every year.

These ladies were some of the very first visionaries to sell directly from Instagram. They now have a line of high-end dresses that they still sell at affordable prices and work on growing the Poppy & Dot business every day.

I chose their Striped, Bell Sleeve Dress ($52) to review because the black and white stripes can go with anything. I also loved how versatile the design of the dress is, something that can easily be dressed up or dressed down and still look put together. It looks cute with Converse or with wedges and is so simple that you just can’t go wrong. I was a little hesitant about the frills on the sleeves, but once I put it on the details just popped.

I’ve also got my eye on the Heathered Taupe Knot Tunic $34

And this Floral Chiffon on Mustard Midi Dress $58. This Dress + boots = heart eyes for days!
