We are in the lull between booms of holidays. I work long hours, often leaving and arriving home again in the dark. All I want after a day on my feet is a hot shower until the water runs cold and my trusty gray sweatpants. My favorite time of day is when the kids are tucked into bed. My house is quiet. The tasks for the day are either done or given up on for the time being, and my feet are propped up. I can breathe in this space. My brain can turn the bits of the day over and see them as they are. I am tired, but I haven’t yet given into sleep.

This week’s edition of Wondrous Words is a celebration of my safe space. I hope that you find a slice of that this week, regardless of what else is battering about outside.

Where is your safe space?
