For National Bow Tie Day we wanted to give you folks a few reasons to love the bow tie (even more than you probably already do, let’s be honest). Because bow ties are for more than just science guys and accountants.
1. They’ve always been for the cool kids.
Although originally worn to hold together the neck of a shirt, bow ties have historically been a symbol for rebels. They often carry the “I don’t care what you think of me” aura about them.
2. Nothing says confidence like a bow tie.
There’s just generally something about a bow tie that draws your attention. I think it’s part “out-of-the-norm” and part attitude of the wearer. People are going to look, they may even touch, and you are going to stand out in a crowd full of neckties.
3. Anyone can wear a bow tie.
Men, women, children, dogs, whatever. Anyone can rock the bow tie.
4. There’s no shortage of “special” occasions.
Whether you’re getting ready for a guys’ night out or dressing up for your wedding day there are no shortages of occasions.
5. Variety is at your finger tips.
Since the bow tie has made such an incredible comeback bow tie shops and designers are popping up all over the place. You can find any print, color, hue, or material your heart desires.
6. It’s not as hard as it looks.
It may look like it takes some kind of black sorcery to tie a bow tie but it is actually pretty simple. And Bill Nye is always here to help.
7. All the Cool Kids are doing it.
The most important thing about bow ties? Everyone knows that bow ties are cool.
