Anyone who knows me knows that I consider myself an animal person. To be completely honest, I prefer the company of animals to most people. I have worked with animals my entire adult life with my passion being the exotics I worked with for the San Diego Zoological Society. Nowadays, my business is helping people with their pets. Nonetheless, I like to spend my free time perusing animal-themed accounts on Instagram, making sure my feed has a good mix of exotic animals and pets….with a dose of goats to make me laugh!
Here are my top 10 favorite animal-centered Instagram accounts:
I worked with raccoons years ago and frankly, they are hilarious, mischievous little troublemakers with thumbs. They are always hungry and they can outsmart dogs for sure, and most people. Best part is that Pumpkin’s people don’t feel the need to dress her up to get a laugh (or followers). Raccoons are just that good.
This guy is a total ham. Whether he’s working it to get the attention of the ladies, or hanging out with his animal friends, this guy is a character. And he rocks the best bedhead!
This could have been the cautionary tale of what happens when you adopt a “micro-pig” who turns out to be anything but small, but instead this is a tale of love and acceptance. And life with a 600 lb pig in your house. No need to dress Esther up in clothes either. She is stunning in all of her pig-ness.
I’ve worked with foxes before as well and know that while I would never want to live with one in my own home, watching one rule someone else’s house is just fascinating. Plus, there is nothing cuter than a smiling fox.
This adorable, cross-eyed cat and his feline companion just make me smile. They like to do cat-stuff like hide in boxes and burrow under the blankets, but they will also tolerate costumes and other human nonsense.
I know that goats are very big right now, but honestly, I’ve loved goats since I was a kid visiting the 4H exhibits at the county fair. I also know they are mischievous and will eat your shoelaces but come on. They are irresistible.
Cuteness overload so sweet it will make your teeth hurt. Recently, one of their Chihuahuas had to have surgery and I swear I was on pins and needles until they brought her home to recuperate. Yes, I am that invested in someone else’s dog.

So unfortunately it has come to that time again, when it is time to move on and say goodbye to Whistler. It's been a non stop trip with Mya and I further exploring the village. We went shopping together and enjoyed a hot drink at Whistler's dog friendliest pub; Blacks. We also had a meet and greet with some amazing Whistler locals, who have been supporting us throughout our adventures. Mya had two days of fun doggy adventures with Alpine Dogs, running through the forest with her own little dog pack wearing GPS collars. This whilst I went for a ski at Whistler Blackcomb Resort and yesterday went heli skiing. Finally we have a big thank you for Aava Whistler Hotel who hosted us durring our visit. This is the second time I've stayed there and it truely is the most welcoming pet friendly accomodation in Whistler. With the exception of the pool area, the hotel is all access to your pup. The friendly staff there were absolutely amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will have more about this trip in an upcoming blog. #NoPawGetsLeftBehind #PetFriendly #OnlyAtAava #Sponsored @aavawhistlerhotel @alpinedogs @whistlerblackcomb @gowhistler @blackspub @gopro
I never thought I’d see the day when a canine police officer, a male Malinois, would make me laugh and smile as much as this dog. His human partner started the account and the dog is a riot. He may be a working dog, and you know you wouldn’t want to cross him, but boy does he look silly in that whirly-twirly hat and in goggles. The saddest part about this account is that the officer and his dog will soon be parting ways. This fact literally made me cry.
Some of the most beautiful photographs of African wildlife that I’ve ever seen. Breathtaking. One of my favorite accounts to peruse when I need to see beauty in the world.
