This week, I bring you a special fangirl edition of Cocktail Corner which also happens to dovetail nicely with Halloween. Which show dost thou fangirl over, you ask? Why Supernatural, of course. You may have guessed as much from Barbara Sirois Doyle’s delightfully geeky recaps. If you watch the show at all, you know the intrepid Winchester brothers, Sam and Dean, have a surefire method for dealing with ghosts: salt and burn. Their bones, that is. That, friends, is the inspiration for this cocktail, which, not unlike the Winchester brothers, also happens to be delicious and strong enough to knock your socks off.
In fact, even if you don’t watch Supernatural (sorry about your life), and would just like a drink that combines sweet, salty, and spicy flavors all in one, this one is for you.
The Salt ‘N Burn
- 1 oz. Fireball Whisky
- 1/2 oz. Domaine de Canton (ginger liqueur)
- 1 tsp. agave syrup
Rimming mixture:
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. chipotle chili powder
First, combine the ingredients for the rimming mixture and rim a shot glass with it. You’ll have some leftover, so save it for round two. In a shaker, combine Fireball, Domaine de Canton, and agave (which you can adjust to taste). Pour into shotglass. Cheers!

Yowza. The rimming mixture sounds even hotter than the drink!
And yes, I know damn well what I just said there.

Is this to be drunk like a shot… Throw it back? Or is it a sippin’ drink to savor and/or sweat through? Ha! But serious question.

Karen, you shoot it! Like Dean Winchester would. đŸ™‚
