It’s #InternationalDayOfSelfCare! Truthfully, self-care is something to practice every day — every hour ideally! But we wanted to take the opportunity today to talk about a less fun but really important part of self-care: enforcing boundaries. Setting boundaries is only one part of the equation. If we want our body to feel truly safe and cared for, we have to put in the work of enforcing our boundaries. One of our favorite Instagram therapist accounts @jordanpickellcounselling has these great suggestions for enforcing boundaries that keep getting crossed. One thing often left out of self care conversations is that self care is only made sustainable through community care. We need the support of healthy, boundary-honoring relationships in order to care for ourselves fully. One way we can work on that at the individual level is by fiercely protecting our boundaries. What are some ways you have enforced your boundaries after they get crossed? Remember: being polite is not nearly as important as being safe and healthy! 💌
