“I have a Wonder Woman tattoo because it’s a thing between my husband and myself. I’m his Wonder Woman and he’s my Superman. He’s loved Superman since he was a child. Shortly after we were married, we each got tattooed (he got Superman’s symbol, of course) and added the date we were married.” – Celine
“This is my Alot of Love. Based on Allie Brosh’s creation featured on the blog Hyperbole and a Half, the Alot of Love is my very own mythical creature – my power animal – comprised entirely of love. Apart from “3” being my favorite number, the three hearts are representative of several different “triptychs” of love in my life, including that of my relationship with my two sisters. As a synesthetic, I experience the color purple as joy, so purple was chosen for the word love to express the joy of full-hearted love.” – Jessica
“I discovered Calvin & Hobbes when I was 13 or so, when my mom bought me a copy of the Sunday Comics collection. I related to Calvin a lot as a kid. I was an only child with no friends, really, though I had a stuffed raccoon instead of a tiger. As I got older and could understand the writing better, it really just connected with me on a very fundamental level. I had wanted a C&H tattoo for a long time, but settled on the one I have when I saw a version of them looking up at the sky. It was superimposed on a Hubble photo of, I think, a nebula. This, tied with the fact I used to go stargazing with my dad all the time when I was a kid (before the light pollution got so bad you couldn’t see the Milky Way anymore…) just seemed like the perfect tattoo for me. In many ways, the Calvin on my arm is me.” – Kate
“After surviving five years of marriage, we decided to pick our favorite superheroes and have them tattooed on the other. I love Agent Coulson, so David had to get S.H.I.E.L.D His favorite is Captain America. I think I got the better end of the deal because mine is more easily recognizable. David has to explain his tattoo to people regularly.” – Sara
