With your well-crafted words, take us into fictional territory that rings true. You’ll have us in the first paragraph or not at all. We’re not interested in trends or fads—save your vampires and angels and any kink they’re into. We want authentic characters, lyrical turns of phrase, stories about transformation and redemption, of traveling into dark places and emerging in the light. We’re more Ann Patchett than Anne Rice (though we did, admittedly, read all of Rice’s novels).
We know the difference between fiction that’s been polished and perfected from that which still needs care.
Please pay attention to each month’s theme — you may interpret this as widely or closely as possible. Be sure to submit by the theme deadline to be considered for themed issues.
Email your submissions (2500 words maximum) in the body of an email to Managing Editor Jordan Rosenfeld at firstname.lastname@example.org. If we’re interested, we’ll ask for you to send the document as an attachment. Please keep cover letters brief. Let the writing sell itself. You may include a 50 words or fewer bio of yourself and your publishing history. We do accept simultaneous submissions but appreciate you letting us know if a piece has been accepted elsewhere.
