The expression “so tired I can’t even think straight” pretty much sums up how every parent out there feels at the end of the work/school week. I can’t remember a time, at this point, when we didn’t have school, homework, dance, art, soccer; and that’s not even just for the kids! Add into the mix family events, friends getting married, PTA, board meetings, and you pretty much have my entire 20’s in a snap. So needless to say making sure we have some sort of date night at all is like suggesting we skip sleeping and just finish up the ever-expanding “to-do” list this weekend. There’s about a snowballs chance in hell that that’ll happen, am I right?
Who would enjoy a Date Night In box? New #parents/ Budget conscious couples/ Babysitter-less parents/ #Newlyweds / #Honeymooners/ Just started to date pair/ Been married 30 years warriors / I just got a #ring on my finger team/ LGBT partners/ We are in a relationship but prefer not to get married duos/ Testing the waters and looking for something different seekers/ Any person who gets those butterflies in their stomach! #datenightin
And that is exactly what Megan and Brian Pruitt were thinking when they created Date Night In Box. “Keeping up with a 3-year-old & 6-month old as well as balancing full-time jobs didn’t leave much time for long date nights out on the town, therefore, the ability to find time for each other seemed to be dwindling.” Luckily they weren’t willing to give up that easily. They started to make their own at-home date nights and share them with their family and friends on their social media. Before they knew it those friends and family were asking how they could get their own date night kits and Night In Box was born in the Fall of 2016.
What started with just Date Night In became Night In Boxes seemingly overnight, “…we have been overwhelmed with positive feedback by the NIB community. Starting with Date Night in, we grew to become Night In Boxes with the expansion of ‘Faith Night In’ in May of this year followed by Mom’s Night In and our newest endeavor- Kid’s Night In.” Customer requests have been a large part of their expansion and they plan to continue to do it. Growing their company has grown the community their building where there’s a little something for everyone.
But everyone has a favorite right? Of all the boxes they’ve curated Megan shared that their favorite box to date has been the “Foundation of Love” Box from this past May, “It’s focus was to really engage the unique personality traits of each person through activities that would challenge even the most experienced architect! Who is normally the leader? Who usually follows? What happens when you switch up that dynamic? The answer for us was laughter ’til our bellies hurt!” That sounds just like the kind of thing my husband and I would get a kick out of doing.
Their motto is short and to the point, “Invest in your love and enjoy the rewards!”
So I was sent their Aloha! Box to review and it came packed to the brim with everything you need to turn your night into a luau. The instructions set the whole stage for you and explain everything in the box. Each piece plays a part in the full immersion into your tropical paradise. The Sea Salt & Orchid room spray from started it for me.Everything from a playlist for you to download, to the meaning behind the leis, to an easy to make meal, complete with both cocktail and mock tail recipes.
I made the cocktail called the “Mermaid Lemonade”, and it was as delicious as it looks. I’ve even included the recipe for you to give a try at home!
