Who is our favorite twisted couple? Which deaths do we both predict and dread? Is it possible to have the medical team on Grey’s do emergency treatment on a character from Scandal? Because we want that. Spoilers ahead!

Grey’s Anatomy, Season 11, Episode 20 – “One Flight Down”

What we loved:

Shandle: I didn’t really love anything about this episode. I thought the idea of going flying on a first date and how much the couple was enamored with each other was cute. Edwards being so invested in the couple’s relationship was cute. It was like she was watching some soap opera, talking to the TV and trying to will the characters to mush their faces together, screaming, “Now kiss!” (Not unlike what we do here every week.)
Kathy: I really loved the couple. That is exactly how I felt about my husband, so I was all mushy and cheering. And Edwards? She is quickly becoming one of my favorites after a whole season of hating her. Also, did you notice her and Jo? They talk AT each other like Christina and Mer.
Shandle: They do! I love their dynamic. And Richard trying to seem like he was somehow involved in the drama was just funny to me, like he was the new kid at school and wanted to seem cool.
Kathy: I was kind of annoyed with him about that. It was so out of character for him.
Shandle: It was, but it was annoying in a sort of endearing way. For me, anyway. I thought Meredith and Arizona were sweet consoling each other. No one else there could’ve understood how they were feeling.

Kathy: I never think of them as friends you know? I mean, they are, but not really, so that whole closet scene really touched me. I thought it was also interesting to see the other people react to the crash. We haven’t ever really seen that. Also –  and I haven’t decided if this is a hate or a love – the bed scene with Mer and Derek. I felt like it was a gift for us. For the fans – our goodbye. Beause, seriously. It’s Grey’s. He’s dead, right?
Shandle: I don’t think of Meredith and Arizona that way, either, but they definitely shared in that trauma. It was interesting to see them show how it still affects them. A lot of times when these big disasters happen on this show, they are forgotten about soon after. This seemed much more realistic. Yep, total gift.

What could’ve been better:

Shandle: Owen telling Amelia their relationship was like a plane crash. What is with the men on this show thinking that love is so full of doom?!
Kathy: Though they often act like it’s the women who are the dark and twisty ones, I think the men are far more jacked up.

Oh shit, Shonda! Moment:

Shandle: Alex telling Arizona about her leg. That moment with Arizona telling Callie thank you. Ithink it was the perfect closure for them.
And OMG, were those police lights outside Meredith’s house?!
Kathy: I had completely forgotten about that moment. Like, it didn’t even hit me until they were talking. And the lights – oh, the lights.

What we’re looking forward to:

Shandle: DEREK. WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED WITH DEREK?! I care about nothing else.
Kathy: I’m just bracing. I feel like this is it. We know. And I don’t want to know. I want to pretend its not happening.

Best lines:

“Maybe they’re both crazy, but even that’s what my grandma used to say love was all about. That everyone is crazy in their own way, and the trick is finding someone whose crazy compliments your own.” — Edwards

“Mer, remember ages ago you and I had a really big fight? And I told you, I said ‘You’re like coming up for fresh air.” Like I was drowning and you saved me. I still feel that way. When I see you, what we have — our family. That’s the feeling; that’s you, it’s always been you. And I want more. More of this, of us, I want to have more. Let’s have more.” — Derek to Meredith

“Because the minute you see all the things you have, you see all the things you stand to lose. Maybe I did embellish the story a bit, and that’s human nature, I guess. But right now I’m taking stock of what I have, and I’m feeling pretty grateful.” — Richard

“We’re okay.” — Meredith & Arizona

“I knew that you were going to hate me. I didn’t want you to hate Alex, too. I wanted you to have somebody.” — Callie to Arizona

Scandal, Season 4, Episode 19 – “I’m Just A Bill”

What we loved:

Shandle: I was happy to see Marcus back. I like the dynamic between him and Liv. And I loved the way Liv handled the police station. I was like, SHE’S BACK, BITCHES! SHE’S BACK!
Kathy: YES. I missed a good Olivia Pope smackdown.

Shandle: Susan. I love her so much. I knew she wasn’t going to be this pushover. She knew all about their plan to get Mellie the presidency. She’s a spitfire, and I love it.

Kathy: I knew she would make for an interesting character, and she is definitely holding it up. I kind of love her.

Kathy: On a sick moment – Huck and Quinn. I seriously love their banter. Their sick and twisted banter.
Shandle: They are twistedly cute when they are “on the job.”

What could’ve been better:

Shandle: As much as I would love Liv to find a new man, and Russell is tall, dark and handsome, I do not like that she feels like she has to be “Alex.” It feels like a serious PTSD red flag for me, a form of escapism that is going beyond a fun one night stand.
Kathy: She is still broken, and now knowing what we know and seeing the sun, I just don’t know if she can come back from this.

Oh shit, Shonda! moment:

Shandle: HOLY SHIT, RUSSELL?! JAKE?! WTF?! I was so focused on Derek on Grey’s that I wasn’t even considering that she’d kill off Jake!
Kathy: I knew he was bad – I just fucking knew it. Jake – is he gone now for good? I really hope not! Quick, get that man to Seattle. The team at Grey’s can surely fix him up.
Shandle: Hahaha! I am thinking he is dead by the end of the season. Maybe not this episode, but before the season ends we will be Jakeless.

What we’re looking forward to:

Shandle: ….
Kathy: Is your silence to mean nothing – ABSOLUTELY NOTHING? Cause I am looking forward to nothing. I am pissing my pants at the future of the characters.
Shandle: That is exactly what it means. I feel like the last few episodes of this season are going to be a bloodbath.
