CBD stands for a cannabidiol, a natural compound that is found in the resinous flower of the cannabis plant, and using it in skincare may seem silly, but it can help with acne, aging, sensitivity, wound healing, and hydration. I honestly believe that it’s an ingredient almost everyone can benefit from having in their products. Mellowed out skin? Say no more.

Best CBD Based Brands: Lord Jones and Saint Jane Beauty. These are both new businesses that totally specialize in CBD products. Lord Jones makes edibles and body products, so if you’d like to take a long soak in CBD-infused bath salts while eating some blood orange CBD gumdrops, you can! Need a heavy duty relaxing balm and some dark chocolate espresso chews to go with it? No problem. They have multiple formulas, all in fantastic packaging with excellent ingredients. Saint Jane is much newer and has only three products, but those products are brilliantly formulated. Their cult product is their Luxury Beauty Serum that has over twenty botanicals in it, all blended to help your skin be the best it’s ever been. Some of my favorite healing ingredients are inside: sandalwood oil, rose oil, frankincense oil, calendula extract, and spikenard oil. Basically, it’ll heal every beauty sin you could ever commit. Their new Luxury Body Serum is like the beauty serum, but has even more goodness and smells like citrus and bourbon vanilla, and I have a mighty need for it. Finally, their Microdose Lip Gloss is basically a tinted, luxuriously healing lip oil. Sad, dry lips become soft and silky.

Oil: Flora + Bast Age Adapting CBD Serum is an all-oil serum that does it all. Although the name might make you think it’s just for wrinkles, you’d be mistaken. It was made to help speed up recovery after intense treatments – chemical peels, microdermabrasion, lasers— which are usually given to acne-prone clients, clients with hyperpigmentation, and clients who have lines and wrinkles. It’s a blend of three types of cannabis oil: phyto-cannabinoid rich cannabis oil, CBD-rich cannabis oil, and full-spectrum cannabis oil. That’s it – no fragrance, no fillers, nothing. It’s gentle enough to use on people recovering from chemo or radiation, but effective enough that it can fix pretty much any skin woe. You can bet I’ll be getting this for after my next chemical peel!

Moisturizer: Farmacy Better Daze Ahead CBD Moisturizer was specifically made to help soothe skin against environmental stress. It’s full spectrum hemp oil, hemp seed oil, and an adaptogen blend (holy basil, reishi mushroom, and purple ginseng) work together to fight off the effects of stress – both inner and outer— so your skin can relax and be happy.

Brow Serum: MILK Makeup’s Growhouse Lash + Brow Serum is the green, clean lash serum I’ve been looking for. The ingredients are sound, it’s ophthalmologist tested, it has no steroids, and it actually WORKS. The CBD is in the form of hemp seed extract – an excellent conditioner. It also has a blend of peptides partially derived from Nicotiana benthamiana, a relative to tobacco that’s indigenous to Australia.  I’m sold.

Night Cream: KANA Skincare’s Lavender Sleeping Mask sounds like the perfect night of sleep in a jar – and the ingredients back it up. Full of hyaluronic acid, real lavender oil, full spectrum hemp extract AND hemp seed extract, and more soothing ingredients combine to help skin settle down. It’s recommended to use 3 times a week on top of your nighttime moisturizer, and it’s one of the few products where, unless you have very oily skin or live in a very humid climate, you seriously can start at 3 times a week rather than tapering up. It’s beyond nourishing.

Body Oil: Ellis Brooklyn Marvelous Massage and Body Oil smells like a spa in a bottle, and with full-spectrum CBD you’ll feel like you’ve actually been to a spa. Grapefruit, rosemary, and pine essential oils help tone and purify skin, as well as help with that fantastic aroma. Next time you can’t relax, rub some of this on your shoulders and feet. Or get someone else to rub it on for you, and then bring you a drink.
