Our lives have all changed drastically over the past several weeks. And, if you’re like me, those kinds of sudden changes result in feelings of stress, which manifest themselves physically. I catch myself clenching my teeth until my jaw aches. My shoulders rise slowly until they’re hunched up below my ears. Sitting to work for long stretches at the kitchen table causes my hip flexors to tighten. Thankfully, many yoga studios across the world are offering free or donation-based online classes using Zoom, Twitch, Instagram Live, and Facebook Live in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic. So stay at hOMe, find a quiet spot and link up to reduce your stress, take care of your body, and find some peace during this difficult time.

1. Metta Yoga Edmonton

Check out this studio, physically located in Alberta, on Facebook  or Instagram for class types ranging from “rocket” to “metta” then join via Facebook or Instagram Live (and if you’re a parent cooped up with your littles, they also offer the occasional class for kids).

All times are listed in MST.

. HELLO COMMUNITY . Wow as we’ve said it before what a unique time we are going through as a collective. We are definitely in this together and we will get to the other side of this together! As we settle into our new normal this too is rapidly changing and morphing day by day, hour by hour. That’s why it’s so important more than ever to stay connected. We’ve rallied to bring what Metta offers into your living rooms, bedrooms, garages, basements wherever you’ve chosen to land on your mat to tune into our live Instagram stories or Facebook live videos. . These days we get our high seeing all the familiar names tuning into our feed and seeing the comments and conversations. Trust us, all the comments and direct messages truly make our day. We wonder if you are actually practicing or just having a virtual happy hour – which both are amazing … CHEERS haha it’s the continued connection and community vibes we will maintain during this unprecedented time. Even when it’s a familiar instructor from Metta teaching to a camera in an empty studio, we feel you! . This is when our practice comes into play more than ever. Practice kindness, be ecstatic and be sad whatever comes up for you at anytime, feel all the feels, and breathe! We are in this together. . We simply can’t wait for the studio doors to open, our space, our community has and always will be fuelled by the energy of this community, the amazing instructors, sweat exchangers and the Balance Massage team. We can’t wait to see you, the people who come in and sweat, cry, laugh, drink tea and make it feel like we’re having a kitchen party in the studio! Keep up with your daily practice and we will all come out stronger. . Hope to see you all soon! . Angela Zawada Owner, Metta Yoga Edmonton (West + South)
