Sweatpants & Beauty | 9 Tips to Help Speed Up Your Morning Beauty Routine

By Kacey Mya

No matter how early you wake up, it always seems like there isn’t enough time in the mornings to get ready. You can even get up fifteen minutes earlier than the day before and still somehow end up out of time. Add pets or kids to this scenario, and it’s just not going to happen. Wrong.

You don’t have to feel rushed in the mornings. You can find ways to speed up your morning beauty routine, so you have time to take Fido out without rushing, make a decent breakfast smoothie, pack your lunch and still look and feel great for the day ahead. Read on for nine tips to help speed up your morning beauty routine.

  1. File or Trim Nails

Don’t waste time redoing your nails if they become chipped. Instead, file your nails down or trim them, so they look fresh without the extra work. This will also make the color on your nails last much longer than normal, thus saving you time at the salon.

  1. Wash Your Face in the Shower

This is by far the easiest elimination of all because many of you probably don’t even realize how repetitive it is to wash your face when you wake up, then jump in the shower. Easy fix – put face wash in the shower so you can kill two birds with one stone.

  1. Add Dry Shampoo Before You Go to Bed

You may think you’re supposed to use dry shampoo in the morning because most people do. Well, you’re doing it wrong. Use dry shampoo before bed so it will work itself into your hair and give you great volume when you wake up. Your hair will also feel and smell fresh, not to mention how soft and smooth it will look.

  1. Choose Neutral Shadows

It’s difficult to coordinate any colors early in the morning, so stick to neutral eyeshadows to avoid having to figure out what goes with what. Plus, neutrals blend easily and offer up a timeless and classic look for the office. Try to find a palette of colors you can use daily, so you can quickly pull it out and apply.

  1. Use All-In-One Makeup

If you find you don’t have the time to do a full makeup routine every day, buy a good BB cream that also acts as a moisturizer and sunscreen. Apply this to your entire face in the morning, add some bronzer to your cheekbones, then a coat of mascara, and voila.

  1. Dry Your Hair Faster

It can take way longer than it should to dry your hair, especially if you’ve got a lot of it. Get a microfiber hair towel to wrap your freshly washed hair in after you get out of the shower. Don’t be rough on your hair when you towel dry. In fact, you will want to blot your hair to avoid damage, but first, make sure you squeeze extra water out of your hair. Whatever you do, don’t rub, wring or squeeze with too much pressure.

While your hair is wrapped, apply your makeup and get dressed so your hair has time to dry as much as it can naturally. This will cut down blow-drying time significantly and give you a little extra time to coordinate your outfit.

  1. Wash Your Hair at Night

If you can, wash your hair at night, so you don’t have to worry as much about it in the morning. It’s much easier to style dry hair in the morning than it is to towel dry, blow-dry then style. Think of all of the time you will save. Plus, there’s nothing better than diving into bed at night with a fresh head of hair.

  1. Buy the Right Hot Tools

There are hot tools out there that do the work for you, and they may be more expensive than your basic tools, but it’s worth it to cut down your morning beauty routine. Invest in professional-grade hot tools, like a strong blow-dryer that cuts down drying time or a curling iron that spins in place.

  1. Keep Your Makeup Organized

This is one simple tip that can change everything. Think about all the times you’ve dug through your makeup in search for one specific thing. Organize makeup by color, type – whatever works best for you, so you don’t waste time trying to find one thing.

Say goodbye to your go-to messy bun, uncoordinated outfit and empty lunch box, and say hello to the new morning you. With light planning, organization and night-before coordination, you can cut down your beauty routine exponentially. Wash your hair at night, buy yourself a good BB cream, keep your makeup organized and wash your face in the shower.

Before you know it, you’ll buy back time you can use towards breakfast, a little morning relaxation, time with your pet and so much more.
