As we turn away from day toward night, looking to the Promise that will come with the dawn, I think of Samhain, that sacred time when we are in “thin places”. Holy Saturday is so very like that, a time caught between now and not yet. A thin place where we decide which way we will go: the time when we consider all that we have learned & come to believe, and decide if it will influence how we’ll go forward. And so, a prayer for the thin places:⠀ Where ideas overlap. Where we find commonality. Where space is made for the sacred to come in. Where we honor our ancestors as we dream for a good future. Where we look at how we have harmed one another and commit ourselves to healing. Where we cross thresholds and choose our paths. Where we remember we are both/and. Where we honor our bodies and our souls together. Where we see the deepest darkness as the dawn begins and we know it is good.⠀ May we choose good. May we choose sacred. May we listen to our ancestors. May we find the courage to make our lives & loves a blessing.⠀ May we rest in God’s peace this night. #prayersfordaysthatendiny

When I write these prayers, it’s usually because of themes I see in social media – what are people’s stressors? What is causing them to freak? Today a friend sent me a message and I told her I’d write a prayer tonight. Here it is, and I hope it brings you blessing, or resonates. Please do share widely. ⠀ ——⠀ A prayer tonight for those who are D.O.N.E. DONE.⠀ Perhaps you’re exhausted in body, mind & spirit.⠀ Perhaps you’ve had to unfriend/hide yet another person.⠀ Perhaps expectations have been raised while communication has been lax.⠀ Perhaps witnessing the lack of integrity in leaders is weighing you down.⠀ Perhaps it’s hard to get out of bed in the morning.⠀ Perhaps the debt has piled too high. ⠀ Perhaps your heart is still breaking even though it was years ago.⠀ Perhaps the dream is dying but you don’t know what might take its place.⠀ Perhaps you can’t advocate for yourself.⠀ Perhaps you’re facing yet another uncertain doctor’s visit.⠀ Perhaps there are too many questions and too few answers.⠀ Perhaps you’re sitting in the ashes, again, and the phoenix feels dormant.⠀ Whatever we encounter, whomever we meet, may Grace be our guide. May we find our respite, our rest and our renewal, in the signs of Spring, in the full moon, in the feasts of Nowruz and in the colors of Holi. May we find the courage to make our lives and our loves a blessing. May we rest in God’s peace this night. ⠀ #PrayersForDaysThatEndInY

Podcasts are talking about it. My timelines are filled with it. Anxiety. Depression. Struggles. People are having a hard time with lots of different things from deadlines to creative droughts to bosses being challenging to the brutal cold. So many things, so much trying to just get through. Here’s a prayer for all of that.⠀ A prayer tonight for People Who Are Trying. To stay warm. To not panic. To let it go. To forgive. To be kind(er). To understand. To make a thing. To be the best. To succeed. To not be so sad. To see the joy again. To be honest. To be vulnerable. To make ends meet. To ask for help. To stand strong. To “hear into speech.” To speak truth to power. To love as we wish to be loved. ⠀ Whatever we encounter, whomever we meet, may Grace be our guide. May the God of love inspire us. May we find the courage to make our lives and our loves a blessing. May we rest in God’s peace this night.⠀ #PrayersForDaysThatEndInY

It’d much too cold to catch the Eclipse outside, I’m watching a livestream and praying. Prayer Tonight For Signs and Wonders. For sacred moments when we’re all staring in wonder at the sky at the same time. For constellations & planets that remind us of constancy in the midst of chaos. For the miracles of the sciences that help us to understand these Wonders and see how truly, awesomely amazing Creation is. For finding your meaning, your joy, your inspiration in the Signs & Wonders of the day.⠀ May we ever remember that there are, indeed, some things that unite us in spite of ourselves. May the wonders of the universe inspire us to look up & around & notice that which we rarely see. Whatever we encounter, whomever we meet, may Grace be our guide. May we find the courage to make our lives and our loves a blessing. May we rest in God’s peace this night. #PrayersForDaysThatEndinY

Earlier this evening, I noticed much heartbreak in my timeline. So much aching. And so: A prayer tonight for Broken Hearts. For those who are mourning their wife, mother, daughter, husband, father, son. For a heartbeat that was there just moments ago. For the loyal employee who was discarded today. For the child who shared their heart and was told to leave their home. For the woman who spoke truth to power and was shunned. For the teenager feeling the sting of first love. For the wife who cannot fathom how one who once loved so deeply can now be so cruel. For the one who has articulated their dream and watched it slip away. Whatever we encounter, whomever we meet, may Grace be our guide. May the God of love inspire us. May we find the courage to make our lives and loves a blessing.⠀ May we rest in God’s peace this night. #PrayersForDaysThatEndInY Holding in prayer especially right now the family of Stephanie, who passed away late last night, the family of Botham Jean, and Ashley & her family enduring an excruciating decision in the face of terrible loss. Is there someone you’d like remembered tonight in prayer? Leave a comment with their name or DM me & I’ll pray for them.

Ya’ll. I know we’re supposed to be kind & compassionate to our bodies, because they struggle & are doing the best they can, but I’ve had to take so much benadryl today because my body is REBELLING against something (not pollen) & making things puff up on my face. (It’s cool, I’ve got it controlled & I’m calling the doctor tomorrow, I promise!) Sometimes I am way over embodiment. So tonight, we pray for People WIth Bodies. … With backs that are all kinds of messed up. That don’t like pollen or certain foods. That that move with extraordinary grace. That are stretching & strengthening slowly but surely. That are ready for fitness competitions. That have created miracles. That need a good night’s sleep. That crave things that harm us. That make us cringe. With failing parts. That require extra-tender care. That inspire us. Whatever we encounter, whomever we meet, may Grace be our guide. May the God of love inspire us. May we find the courage to make our lives and loves a blessing.⠀ May we rest in God’s peace this night. #PrayersForDaysThatEndInY

Sometimes things, life, brains, bodies just hurt. So tonight we pray for the Hurting. Maybe your muscles are screaming at you. Maybe the incision is pulling. Maybe your heart aches because you needed to walk away from them for good… again. Maybe your kid is struggling. Maybe you feel invisible. Maybe you’re terrified the life you’ve built is about to crumble. Maybe you’re really missing your friends. Maybe the PTSD is paralyzing you again. Maybe you’re ok, but your heart is breaking for someone else. Maybe the paradoxes are too much to bear. Maybe you’ve lost hope. Maybe the road has divided in the yellow wood, and the path is none too clear. Maybe you need this reminder: You are loved. Deeply loved & beloved by so many & so much. Whatever we encounter, whomever we meet, may Grace be our guide. May the God of love inspire us. May we find the courage to make our lives and loves a blessing.⠀ May we rest in God’s peace this night. #PrayersForDaysThatEndInY
