Tray, played by Tracey Morgan returns to his Brooklyn neighborhood after 15 years of incarceration to find it gentrified. He also learns his old love, who never visited him in prison, has 15 year old twins and a very gentrified husband who is helping raise the twins.

Our anti-hero works to redeem himself to be a better example to the kids he never knew, while navigating this new world outside of prison.

I have to confess, I’m not a big fan of Tracy Morgan. I didn’t care for him on Saturday Night Live and I wouldn’t go out of my way to see his work. However, I did enjoy his limited role on “30 Rock”, so I sat through all the previews offered by TBS. And, honest to God, he won me over. I really enjoyed this show.

“The Last O.G.” is a heartfelt look at alternative families, the criminal system and colliding worlds.

Despite the occasional rough and sophomoric humor, I think audiences will love this show. Tray’ a great guy who never blames his situation on anyone but himself. He did his time for non-violent crimes and just wants to life a clean life and prove himself. He wants to make up for lost time with his kids, but never tries to break up, or interfere with his ex-girlfriend’s marriage. You end up rooting for his character’s happiness.

The Last O.G. will premiere on TBS on April 3rd at 10:30. It also stars Cedric the Entertainer and the marvelous Tiffany Haddish. Executive-producing with Tracey Morgan and Jordan Peele are Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, Joel Zadak of Principato Young, and John Carcieri.
