I have been desperate for new series to watch while I run on the treadmill and wait for the days to get longer and warmer. I had the opportunity to preview a few new limited series from different outlets. Here are the best of the bunch. Check out these new limited series, while you’re huddled indoors this winter.

The Blue Book Project – History Channel, Tuesdays at 10 pm – Currently playing, get caught up online

In it’s second week, the first episodes can be seen at History.com. I love the period piece aspect of this series. It feels reminiscent of Area 51 flashbacks in the X-files. This one is a slow burn. Give it a few episodes to get sucked in. I also loved Ksenia Solo’s character in this. As a human in “Lost Girl,” she always seemed more a part of the fairy world, and her other-worldliness feel works well in this series.

Per HISTORY Channel:  Produced by Academy Award and Golden Globe® winner Robert Zemeckis, the ten-episode drama series is based on the true, top-secret investigations into UFOs and related phenomena conducted by the United States Air Force in the 1950s and 60s and by the personal experiences of Dr. J. Allen Hynek, a brilliant college professor recruited by the U.S. Air Force to spearhead this clandestine operation (Project Blue Book) that researched thousands of cases, over 700 of which remain unsolved to this day.

I Am the Night – TNT, Mondays at 9 pm, starting January 28, 2019

“I Am the Night,” directed by Patty Jenkins of “Wonder Woman” and “Monster” fame, takes place in 1960’s Los Angeles. I love the style of this show as well. Although the action is slow to develop, Chris Pine and India Eisley are wonderful to watch. Much like TNT’s other period crime drama, “The Alienist,” the mystery revolves around the twister mind of a sexual deviant predator.

Per TNT: Inspired by true events, I Am the Night tells the gripping story of Fauna Hodel (India Eisley), a teenage girl who is given away at birth, and grows up outside of Reno, Nevada. Fauna lives more-or-less comfortably with the mysteries of her origin, until one day she makes a discovery that leads her to question everything. As Fauna begins to investigate the secrets of her past, she meets a ruined reporter (Pine), haunted by the case that undid him. Together they follow a sinister trail that swirls ever closer to an infamous Los Angeles gynecologist, Dr. George Hodel (Jefferson Mays), a man involved in some of Hollywood’s darkest debauchery, and possibly, its most infamous unsolved crime.

Miracle Workers – TBS – Tuesdays at 10:30 pm, starting February 12, 2019

“Miracle Workers” has the feel of “The Good Place” meets “Time Bandits”. It doesn’t have quite the quick-witted writing of “The Good Place,” but it’s fun and quirky.

Per TBS: Miracle Workers stars Daniel Radcliffe as a low-level angel responsible for managing human prayers. Steve Buscemi plays Craig’s boss, God, who has pretty much checked out to focus on petty hobbies. To prevent Earth’s destruction, Craig and fellow angel Eliza (Geraldine Viswanathan) must answer a seemingly impossible prayer: help two humans, Laura and Sam (played by Sasha Compere and Jon Bass), fall in love. Based on Simon Rich’s book, “What in God’s Name”, this seven-episode limited series turns the perception of heaven on its head while also making the case that humans are worth saving.
