Welcome to Fantasy Break! Is there anything more satisfying than a great, big, beautiful closet? Today, we’re ogling celebrity closets. I’d love to believe that the closets in question were cleaned and organized especially to have their pictures taken, because nobody in real life is this neat and tidy all the time, right? Vote in the poll below for your favorite.
1. Ralph Lauren
I love the unabashed masculinity of this one. From Architectural Digest: “The closet at the Bedford, New York home of Ralph Lauren is outfitted with mahogany millwork, giving the room the refined air of an English estate. The walls are covered in a dark-green baize and a leather-upholstered bench provides a convenient perch for pulling on one of the many pairs of riding boots that line the shelves.”
2. Brooke Shields
I must admit, what really sold me on this one is old-school library ladder. I love library ladders! According to AD, Shields’s closet, built of rift-sawn white oak, is outfitted with a rolling shoe rack and library ladder by Putnam Rolling Ladder Co.
3. Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey’s light-filled, Versailles-inspired closet is the size of most people’s apartments. The photo above only shows a portion of it – she has a vast room just for shoes! Also, it’s climate-controlled. And contains a “gilded boudoir.” Says Carey, “It’s not really a traditional closet, but I worked hard for this mess!”
4. Giuliana Rancic
Giuliana Rancic’s 200-square foot closet was custom-built by L.A. Closet Design, and has an entire marble-topped island for storage! Now we’re talking!
5. Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey’s vast, warm, custom closet is hyper-organized by color. How we’d love to hear the words “YOU get a closet! And YOU get a closet! Everybody gets a closet!” How amazing is that shoe island?
