Egg nog is one of those beverages you either love or hate; there doesn’t seem to be any middle ground here.  In my house, there are just two of us who love it.  My son and I have been enjoying egg nog together since he was a toddler (his, of course, did not include brandy!).  The rest of the family makes faces at us while we drink our lovely, holiday beverage, but honestly, we don’t care.

Just for fun, I started making one recipe every holiday season that used egg nog as a main ingredient.  My motivation for this was to try to convert the rest of my family members into egg nog lovers, even if they weren’t going to be egg nog purists like my son and me.  What follows are the recipes that got the highest (begrudgingly) ratings from my non-egg nog loving family members.

Interestingly enough, my son’s only comment on the recipes has been that they don’t taste enough like egg nog, while that seems to be why the rest of the family enjoys them. Go figure.  In any event, I feel these recipes use egg nog in a way that makes it more appealing to the masses.  And for those of you who don’t do dairy or eggs, feel free to substitute almond, soy, rice, or even coconut nog in these recipes. Happy National Egg Nog Day Everyone!

These decadent cinnamon rolls take time, but they are so worth it.

These little loaves are fun to wrap up in decorative cellophane and pair with a cute mug and coffee gift card for your friends!

Two of my holiday favorites in one recipe!

My mother loved French toast and always considered it to be a breakfast treat.  I smile and think of her every time I make this recipe.

These cookies are super easy to make and great to share at a holiday cookie exchange!

My health conscious daughter enjoys these as she feels that they have a nice texture and aren’t overly sweet, making them  the perfect pairing with her morning cup of coffee.

And, finally, this one is so pretty and definitely the cake I’ve served to company instead of a traditional pie for Christmas dessert. Don’t tell them it starts with a box cake mix! That’ll be our little secret!
